Basketball Recap: JAYDEN LOPEZ's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Adams over Jefferson

West Adams was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the Jefferson Democrats. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Democrats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

West Adams' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JAYDEN LOPEZ, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds. JORGE GUEVARA was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, West Adams smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

West Adams' loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Jefferson, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4.

West Adams will be playing at home against Dr. Maya Angelou Community at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Jefferson, they will head out on the road to take on Diego Rivera at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
