Basketball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 33rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Philip Barbour Colts 72-23. If the Mountaineers were looking for revenge after losing 71-38 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leading Philip Barbour to victory were Finley Carpenter and Izzy Knotts. Carpenter went 5 for 11 on her way to 12 points along with six assists and four steals, while Knotts went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Knotts has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Gracie Wolfe also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Philip Barbour, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-6.

Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 76-39 win against Fairmont Senior on the 31st. As for Philip Barbour, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-35 victory against Moorefield on the 3rd.
