Preview: Dekaney Wildcats vs. Nimitz Cougars
The Dekaney Wildcats will be playing at home against the Nimitz Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Dekaney had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat MacArthur 42-7 at home. Dekaney's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Dekaney got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Samaritan Cunningham out in front who rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Nicholas Townsend was another key contributor, picking up 59 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, everything went Nimitz's way against Spring on Friday as Nimitz made off with a 44-24 victory. Winning may never get old, but Nimitz sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Dekaney's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Nimitz, their win was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Dekaney strolled past Nimitz in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 39-21. Does Dekaney have another victory up their sleeve, or will Nimitz turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
