The biggest upset of the week belonged to Tranquillity, who defeated 837th ranked Avenal, 14-6.

Josh Allen and Cristian Patlan provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Dos Palos. The connection was good for 82 yards, the longest such play in West Sierra this season.

Allen threw for 364 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 21-35 with 0 interceptions.

Joseph Preciado made the biggest impact on defense this week as Firebaugh defeated the Broncos. The 5-foot-8 senior forced 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.

Edgar Segura was a force in the backfield as Mendota beat Coalinga.

Jordan Martinez was the best receiver in the league this week as the Eagles defeated Dos Palos. Martinez tallied 10 receptions for 173 yards. Patlan helped Firebaugh's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 103 yards.

Firebaugh's Allen and Martinez led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Allen has thrown for 2,127 yards this season, while Martinez has 33 catches for 648 yards. The Aztecs' Segura leads the league in rushing yards with 1,775.

Two of the top units in West Sierra will face off this week when Mendota takes on the Buccaneers. Robert Mejia's team's offense has scored 314 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Avenal has allowed only 109 on the year.

The Aztecs are currently in second, while Ryan Vercruysse's team is in third.

Mendota scaled the state rankings by moving to 443 from 511 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Aztecs climbed the ranks as a result of beating the Horned Toads 35-6.
