Baseball Game Preview: Rio Grande City Rattlers vs. Martin Tigers

For the second straight game, Rio Grande City will face off against Martin. Rio Grande City will head out to square off against Martin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Rio Grande City's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Martin's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Rio Grande City was handed a 13-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past Martin 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Evan Marroquin made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Omar Gonzalez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Aaron Benavidez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Rio Grande City's record now sits at 7-8. As for Martin, they moved to 10-5-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
