Baseball Game Preview: Cascade Bruins vs. Burlington-Edison Tigers

The Cascade Bruins will head out on the road to challenge the Burlington-Edison Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Cascade nor Burlington-Edison posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Cascade's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kamiak on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Marcell Alexander spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Cascade saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Crosson, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Burlington-Edison got themselves on the board against Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, but Sedro-Woolley never followed suit. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cubs 2-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

The result came thanks to Tyler Walker's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up 15 Ks.

On the hitting side, Jakson Granger was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one stolen base. Granger is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Burlington-Edison pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average this season. As for Cascade, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
