Baseball Recap: Hialeah Comes Up Short

The Hialeah Thoroughbreds didn't have quite enough to beat the South Broward Bulldogs on Friday and fell 5-4. The Thoroughbreds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rolando Vergara was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Alex Perez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Joshua Giron, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Hialeah's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for South Broward, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9-1.

Hialeah will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Miami Beach at 6:00 p.m. on April 1. As for South Broward, they will challenge Cypress Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
