Baseball Game Preview: Wellington Skyrockets vs. Memphis Cyclones

The Wellington Skyrockets will face off against the Memphis Cyclones at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Wellington has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Wellington needed a bit of extra time to put away Clarendon. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over the Broncos. The Skyrockets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Memphis came up short against Lockney on Tuesday, falling 22-7.

Wellington's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Memphis, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Wellington skirted past Memphis 2-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Will the Skyrockets repeat their success, or do the Cyclones have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
