Volleyball Recap: Hampden Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Ellsworth

Hampden faced Ellsworth in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Broncos took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Broncos' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

While Hampden had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-18, 17-25, 25-22.

Alice Knapp paced Hampden's offense, picking up eight kills. Knapp got some help from Daniella Madore and her 29 assists. Grace LeVasseur controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Hampden now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Ellsworth, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hampden will challenge Brewer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ellsworth, they will take on Mount Desert Island at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
