Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers vs. Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals

The Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers will challenge the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mt. Pulaski 3, Warrensburg-Latham 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Mt. Pulaski's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against El Paso-Gridley as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hilltoppers, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Warrensburg-Latham earned an 8-5 win over Williamsville on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

Casen Reynolds looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Warrensburg-Latham got a big performance out of Brody Brown, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Nick Shelsta, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Mt. Pulaski's victory bumped their record up to 19-5. As for Warrensburg-Latham, their win bumped their record up to 23-5.

Mt. Pulaski skirted past Warrensburg-Latham 10-9 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Do the Hilltoppers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
