Preview: Washington-Marion Charging Indians vs. Welsh Greyhounds
The Washington-Marion Charging Indians's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Welsh Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on December 7th. Hopefully Washington-Marion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Washington-Marion suffered a tough 67-45 defeat at the hands of Iowa. While losing is never fun, Washington-Marion can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Iowa is ranked 14th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Fantasy Brown, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ta?khara Johnson, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Welsh was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 45-41 to St. Edmund. Welsh has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
South Beauregard's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Washington-Marion's loss dropped theirs to 4-4.
Everything went Washington-Marion's way against Welsh in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as Washington-Marion made off with a 66-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Washington-Marion since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
