Basketball Recap: Taft Takes a Loss

After flying high against Jefferson last Friday, Taft came back down to earth. The Taft Tigers lost to the Dayton Pirates on the road by a 71-54 margin on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 76-70 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Taft's loss dropped their record down to 18-4. As for Dayton, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Taft has already played their next game, a 64-27 win against Willamina on the 12th. As for Dayton, they are taking a road trip to square off against Amity at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Dayton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
