The home team had won the previous six meetings between University and Parkersburg South, and University kept the tradition alive. The Hawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Patriots 7-6. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots on Thursday, too.

The team relied heavily on Brock Shuba, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Brance McCune also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

University moved to 2-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Parkersburg South, they dropped their record down to 4-5 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
