Basketball Recap: Monument Academy Comes Up Short

Monument Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Miami-Yoder Buffaloes 66-24. The Lynx were not able to make up for their loss to the Buffaloes from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Koen Williamson was Monument Academy's leading scorer, having posted six points.

Gavin Howard was his usual excellent self, going 12-for-25 en route to 32 points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds for Miami-Yoder. Howard is becoming a predictor of Miami-Yoder's success: when he posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 5-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jel Wallerstedt, who posted 19 points along with five boards and four steals.

Monument Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Miami-Yoder, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Monument Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Miami-Yoder, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 47-41 victory against Liberty Tree Academy on the 1st.
