It was a Battle of the Birds when St. Paul Catholic duked it out with Woodland Regional on Thursday. The Falcons lost 3-0 to the Hawks. The Falcons' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

St. Paul Catholic took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-17, 25-23.

Vanessa Longo paced St. Paul Catholic's offense, picking up nine kills. Longo got some help from Isabella McCulloch and her 17 assists. Grace Dubitsky controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Woodland Regional found their leader in freshman Leila Sheetz, who had 15 digs and one assist.

St. Paul Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Woodland Regional, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5-1 record this season.
