Volleyball Recap: Coronado Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but Coronado unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Monte Del Sol Charter Dragons by a score of 3-2. The Leopards were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Coronado took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-28, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19, 15-10.

AnnAlyssa Garcia paced Coronado's offense, picking up five kills. Garcia got some help from Melody Chacon and her 13 assists. Chacon was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Coronado's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Monte Del Sol Charter, the win snapped their losing streak at six matches and leaves them with a 2-15 record.

Coming up, Coronado will square off against New Mexico School for the Deaf at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monte Del Sol Charter, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Legacy Academy on the 28th.
