Softball Recap: Cherry Hill West Gets the Win

Cherry Hill West came out on top against Moorestown on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Lions walked away with an 8-5 win over the Quakers. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Quakers: they've now won three in a row.

Ella Davis was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Berg, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Juliette Panto also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Cherry Hill West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Cherry Hill West now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Moorestown, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Coming up, Cherry Hill West will challenge Cherry Hill East at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
