Baseball Game Preview: Melbourne Bulldogs vs. Sebastian River Sharks

The Melbourne Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Sebastian River Sharks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Melbourne will be strutting in after a win while Sebastian River will be coming in after a defeat.

On Wednesday, Melbourne earned a 6-2 victory over Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Landon Barney looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bryson Ayala was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Corbin Brown was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Sebastian River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against South Fork, falling 9-1.

Sebastian River saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Morrero, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Sebastian River's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Melbourne, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.

Melbourne beat Sebastian River 5-2 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
