Basketball Recap: Midland Chemics vs. Powers Catholic Chargers
The Midland Chemics's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 88-43 loss at the hands of Powers Catholic. While losing is never fun, Midland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 562nd, while the Chargers are ranked 58th).
Powers Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Connor Kelly, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Javontae Ross, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Midland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for Powers Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.
Midland will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Davison's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Powers Catholic is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th.
