Softball Recap: Calvert Beats La Plata for Their Fifth Straight Win

Calvert had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past the La Plata Warriors 16-15. 16 seems to be a good number for the Cavaliers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Madison Weems was incredible, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hailey Hilton, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.

The victory (which was Calvert's fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for La Plata, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.

Looking ahead, Calvert will challenge Huntingtown on Wednesday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hurricanes have averaged an impressive 12.1 runs per game this season. La Plata does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
