Basketball Game Preview: Claremont Wolfpack vs. Ayala Bulldogs

The Claremont Wolfpack just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Ayala Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Claremont is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Claremont is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Los Osos on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Claremont was beaten by Los Osos 69-38. While losing is never fun, the Wolfpack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 846th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 314th).

Despite their loss, Claremont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaden Cardenas, who posted 11 points and six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Dominic Xatruch, who earned four points.

Ayala played in conference for the first time on Thursday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They managed a 65-61 victory over Diamond Bar.

Ayala's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Claremont, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Claremont took a serious blow against Ayala in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 63-34. Can Claremont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
