Volleyball Recap: Pacifica Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Charlotte Booth and Emery Pelinka

After flying high against Capistrano Valley Christian on Thursday, Pacifica Christian came back down to earth. The Tritons fell just short of the Southlands Christian Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Tritons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Pacifica Christian actually scored more points across those five sets (105-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-20, 24-26, 9-25, 15-12.

Pacifica Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Emery Pelinka and Charlotte Booth. Pelinka had 20 digs, while Booth had 19 digs, nine kills, and one block. Booth has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last ten times she's played. Emery Heal was another key player, getting 20 digs and one assist.

Pacifica Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Southlands Christian, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-5.

Coincidentally, Pacifica Christian and Southlands Christian will both be playing Western Christian the next time they take the court. The Tritons will host the Fighting Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
