Football Recap: Yelm Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Yelm's offense. They were dealt a 39-0 defeat at the hands of the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Tornados can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Eagles are ranked third).

Leading Graham-Kapowsin to victory were AJ Tuivaiave and Blake Pearson. Tuivaiave threw for 278 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, while Pearson gained 95 total yards and a touchdown.

This is the second loss in a row for Yelm and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Graham-Kapowsin, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Yelm will take on rival Bonney Lake at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. Meanwhile, Graham-Kapowsin is set to square off against their familiar foe Bethel at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
