Preview: Hiram Hornets vs. Cass Colonels
The Hiram Hornets will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Cass Colonels at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Hiram's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
Hiram missed an extra point against Cartersville on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Hiram was just a hair shy of victory and fell 35-34 to Cartersville. The game was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but Hiram was just barely outscored by Cartersville in the second.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kendarious Brown, who rushed for 187 yards on only 14 carries. Brown was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Another player making a difference was Kaden Hamilton, who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Cass was the victim of a tough 38-13 loss at the hands of Dalton on Friday. Cass has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losses dropped Hiram to 6-2 and Cass to 4-4.
Hiram came up short against Cass in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 26-21. Will Hiram have more luck at home instead of on the road?
