Bishop Eustace Prep has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging three runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They fell 13-10 to the Paul VI Eagles. The Crusaders' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Dante Bell and Dante Matarese did some serious damage despite the final result: Bell went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Matarese fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those home runs were Matarese's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Rosenberg, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Bishop Eustace Prep's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-4. As for Paul VI, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.
