Soccer Game Preview: Gloucester vs. Smithfield

Gloucester is 0-3 against Smithfield since March of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Dukes are taking a road trip to take on the Packers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Gloucester is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Denbigh on Tuesday. Gloucester haven't had any issues with Denbigh recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Smithfield waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their defense stepped up to hand the Panthers a 3-0 shutout. Give Smithfield's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

They hit Bruton with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ashlyn White, Julianna Jones, and Brooke Pall.

Smithfield's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Gloucester, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Gloucester might still be hurting after the 5-0 defeat they got from Smithfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Dukes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
