The Mountain View Toros are taking a road trip to take on the Higley Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Mountain View came out on top against Mesa on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Toros put the hurt on the Jackrabbits with a sharp 10-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Toros as they're now sitting on three straight.
Not much got past Justice Yanke, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Mesa off the board. Yanke also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mountain View is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mitchell Lamoreaux, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ryan Person also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Williams Field hit Higley with a four-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights fell 8-3 to the Black Hawks. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Higley saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Kimmel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Mountain View pushed their record up to 16-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Higley, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-10.
Mountain View's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Toros have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Higley, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mountain View continue to outrun the ball?
Mountain View skirted past Higley 6-5 when the teams last played back in March of 2020. Do the Toros have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
