Softball Recap: Shelby Takes a Loss

Shelby was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 24-7 to the East Gaston Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 26-10 last Tuesday.

Julianna Vaughan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Caroline Curtis, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Shelby's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for East Gaston, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Shelby is set to take on their familiar foe Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, East Gaston will face off against rival Burns at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
