Basketball Preview: Elkin Buckin' Elks vs. Starmount Rams
Elkin is 2-8 against the Rams since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Elkin Buckin' Elks will head out on the road to square off against the Starmount Rams at 8:00 p.m. Elkin has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
Last Friday, Elkin had to suffer through a rough 76-48 loss at the hands of the Golden Eagles. Elkin has struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Starmount came up short against the Granite Bears on Friday and fell 46-34. Starmount has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Jordon Dobson and Mario Revels. Revels had a solid game and scored 12 points along with two steals. Meanwhile, Dobson did his best for the losing side, scoring nine points.
Elkin has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Starmount, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
Things could have been worse for Elkin, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-40 loss to the Rams in their previous matchup back in January. Can Elkin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
