Softball Recap: Waterloo Beats Shoals Christian for Their Second Straight Win

Waterloo won against Colbert County last Thursday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Waterloo Cougars never let the Shoals Christian Flame get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. Considering the Cougars have won five games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Georgiana Kavich, who gave up just six hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Shoals Christian off the board. Kavich has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Claire Cooper was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Sarah Allen also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Waterloo and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Shoals Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Waterloo Cougars face off against Belmont Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shoals Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tharptown at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
