Recap: South Williamsport Mountaineers vs. Northumberland Christian Warriors
The South Williamsport Mountaineers were the 67-53 winner over the Northumberland Christian Warriors when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. South Williamsport might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Northumberland Christian an easy 54-29 win.
Several Mountaineers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Radley Knapp, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds. Jordan Baier was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
South Williamsport's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Northumberland Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Williamsport will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Wellsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wellsboro presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Williamsport in Pennsylvania (Wellsboro is ranked 160th, while South Williamsport is ranked 547th). Northumberland Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Meadowbrook Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 12, 2024.
