Basketball Recap: Hampton Beats South Greene for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Hampton entered their tilt with South Greene on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the South Greene Rebels 71-55. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 92-90 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Hampton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Davenport, who went 7 of 17 en route to 21 points and five assists. The game was Davenport's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tuff Robinson, who posted 11 points along with eight assists and seven boards.

South Greene lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gavin Dyer, who had 14 points. Elgin Gentry was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points.

Hampton pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points per game. As for South Greene, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

Hampton will head out to challenge The First Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 21st. As for South Greene, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 71-60 defeat against David Crockett on the 14th.
