Basketball Recap: Clinton Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Saghan Schlabach and Savannah Bontrager

Clinton Christian lost against Granger Christian last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Clinton Christian Couriers received a blow as they fell 53-35 to the Granger Christian Knights. The Couriers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Clinton Christian had strong showings from Savannah Bontrager, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards, and Saghan Schlabach, who posted seven points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, Schlabach is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

Even though they lost, Clinton Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Clinton Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Granger Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Clinton Christian will head out to challenge Victory Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Granger Christian, they will welcome Calumet Christian at 5:45 p.m. on January 17th.
