Basketball Game Preview: Piper Bengals vs. Stoneman Douglas Eagles

The Piper Bengals will head out on the road to face off against the Stoneman Douglas Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Piper easily dispatched Plantation back in December of 2024, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Piper fell just short of Chaminade-Madonna by a score of 44-41 on Tuesday. The Bengals' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Janiya Joassin and Nylah Lewis. Lewis had a great game and posted 13 points along with six boards and six steals. Meanwhile, Joassin was balling out in the loss, putting up 20 points.

Meanwhile, Stoneman Douglas came up short against South Broward on Friday and fell 40-28. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.

Piper's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Stoneman Douglas, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Piper beat Stoneman Douglas 43-35 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Does Piper have another victory up their sleeve, or will Stoneman Douglas turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
