The Frederick Golden Eagles will head out to take on the Legacy Lightning at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Legacy will be up against a hot Frederick squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Golden Eagles walked away with a 14-9 win over Niwot on Wednesday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Brealea Stendel

| 09/06/25 vs Resurrection Christian | 3 |

The team relied heavily on Brealea Stendel, who went 2-for-3 with four runs and five RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eva Purnell, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Frederick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Legacy got the win against Longmont on Tuesday by a conclusive 18-6. The result was nothing new for the Lightning, who have now won seven contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Legacy also got a great performance from Kady Cosyns as she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits.
On the hitting side, Prisca Smolens was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Ella Benson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
Frederick's record now sits at 15-5. As for Legacy, their record is now 10-8.
Frederick's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Golden Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Legacy, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Frederick continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Frederick's way against Legacy when the teams last played back in August of 2024, as Frederick made off with a 10-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
