Baseball Game Preview: Midway Panthers vs. Wakeland Wolverines

The Midway Panthers will challenge the Wakeland Wolverines at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Midway 3.1, Wakeland 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Midway is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Frisco on Friday. They fell just short of the Raccoons by a score of 4-2. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wakeland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let Braswell get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Thursday.

Turner Corey looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Wakeland's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Pickard, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Austin Liegl also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The win got Wakeland back to even at 3-3. As for Midway, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
