Baseball Recap: Clarkrange's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

After low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Clarkrange brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They came out on top against the Oakdale Eagles by a score of 12-8 on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Buffaloes as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Mason McWhirter made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bo Ramsey, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he brought in this season. Another player making a difference was William Goodman, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Clarkrange always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Clarkrange's record is now 3-6. As for Oakdale, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Clarkrange will face off against Clay County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Oakdale, they will square off against Oliver Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oliver Springs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Oakdale surely won't give up without a fight.
