Basketball Recap: Pioneer Charter School of Science Comes Up Short

Pioneer Charter School of Science was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Boston Collegiate Hurricanes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 51-46 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2017.

When it comes to explaining why Pioneer Charter School of Science lost, don't look at Sara Yamani. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 13 on her way to 17 points in addition to five boards and three steals. That was a full 41.5% of Pioneer Charter School of Science's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Muneera Shanik, who put up eight points and eight rebounds.

Pioneer Charter School of Science now has a losing record at 3-4.

Pioneer Charter School of Science wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 46-12 victory against Community Charter School of Cambridge on the 9th. As for Boston Collegiate, they will venture away from home to take on Collegiate Charter School of Lowell at 5:30 p.m. on January 15th.
