Basketball Game Preview: Eaton Eagles vs. Northridge Polar Bears

The Eaton Eagles will face off against the Northridge Polar Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Eaton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 63-36 victory over National Trail. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Eagles have posted since January 8th.

Meanwhile, Northridge entered their tilt with Lehman Catholic on Thursday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They were the clear victor by a 57-31 margin over the Cavaliers. Given the Polar Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 615th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northridge's win came from a few key players Eaton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Saknia Davis, who went 5 of 6 en route to 13 points. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Jayah Martin was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Northridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Eaton's record now sits at 4-17. As for Northridge, their record is now 17-5.

Eaton was dealt a bruising 58-22 loss at the hands of Northridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Eaton was down 29-7.
