Poly has gone 8-2 against Verdugo Hills recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Poly Parrots just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Verdugo Hills Dons at 7:00 p.m. Poly knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 games -- so hopefully Verdugo Hills likes a good challenge.
Poly is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Grant: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Poly blew Grant out of the water with a 79-46 final score. The Parrots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Poly's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JD Wyatt, who posted 26 points. Wyatt is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 33 games he's played dating back to last season. Quian Khawaja was another key player, putting up 18 points.
Meanwhile, Verdugo Hills was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 55-49 to Arleta.
Poly will have to contain William Gharabekyan as he made an impact in Verdugo Hills' last game. He dropped a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds. That was a full 38.8% of Verdugo Hills' points, marking the third time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jeffrey Moran, who put up 11 points along with five boards and three steals.
Even though they lost, Verdugo Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in ten consecutive games.
Poly is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.9 points over those games. As for Verdugo Hills, they now have a losing record of 13-14.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Wyatt and Gharabekyan. Wyatt has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 28.1 points. For his part, Gharabekyan has averaged 20.6 points, 3.8 steals, and 12.4 rebounds.
Everything came up roses for Poly against Verdugo Hills in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as the team secured a 102-56 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poly since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
