Football Recap: Vidalia Falls to Long County in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Vidalia unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 28-27 to the Long County Blue Tide. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Cortney Charles went supernova For Long County., rushing for 117 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, while also picking up 69 receiving yards and one TD. Charles showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 69 yards.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vidalia will venture away from home to square off against Screven County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Long County, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on the 28th. The game will give the Blue Tide their first taste of in-conference action this season.
