Football Game Preview: Burney Raiders vs. Loyalton Grizzlies + Official Tickets

The Burney Raiders will head out to take on the Loyalton Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Burney is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They snuck past Butte Valley with a 24-18 victory. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

A big part of Burney's victory came down to the chemistry between Killian Biles and his top target Liam Von Schalscha. Biles rushed for 104 yards and one TD while Von Schalscha rushed for 84 yards and a pair of scores.

One reason for the win was Burney's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 5.5 sacks. Leading the way was Greeley Wolfin with two. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Alexander Vargas was another major factor on D, picking up 0.5 sacks and making 18 total tackles.

Meanwhile, Loyalton didn't have too much trouble with Plumas Charter two weeks ago as they won 22-6.

Burney's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Loyalton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Burney came up short against Loyalton in their previous meeting back in October, falling 24-20. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
