Flag Football Recap: Katie Serratos and Aubrie Baruch Secure Win for La Serna

There's no place like home for La Serna, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They never let the Whittier Cardinals get on the board and left with a 24-0 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won four in a row.

A big part of La Serna's win came down to the chemistry between Katie Serratos and her top target Aubrie Baruch. Serratos gained 39 total yards and a touchdown while Baruch rushed for 74 yards and one TD. Serratos was even better on defense, picking up two sacks and making three total tackles. Aleeah Barrientos made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

La Serna didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Lexi Avila, Alainna Boochie, and Barrientos picked up one apiece. Boochie has been hot recently, having posted at least one interception the last three times she's played. She got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

La Serna's victory bumped their record up to 13-11-1. As for Whittier, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

La Serna does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Whittier, they will square off against California at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Condors' defense has only allowed 8.7 points per game this season, so the Cardinals' offense will have their work cut out for them.
