Basketball Game Preview: Charleston Bluejays vs. Sikeston Bulldogs

The Charleston Bluejays will take on the Sikeston Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Charleston is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Kelly 95-65 on Tuesday. The Bluejays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Charleston found their leader in sophomore Treshaun Schandon, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schandon has scored all season. Deshaun Henderson was another key player, going 8 for 10 on his way to 17 points and three steals.

Charleston was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Sikeston entered their tilt with Timberland two weeks ago with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They wrapped up 2024 with an 88-70 win over the T-Wolves. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the T-Wolves are ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Charleston pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.3 points per game. As for Sikeston, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.

Charleston took a serious blow against Sikeston in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 89-43. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Charleston was down 50-24.
