Softball Recap: Bourbon Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Bourbon extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping them up to 4-2. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Plato Eagles. For the War Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

As for Plato, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3. The game marked their lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

For Plato's part, Taylor Utley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks. Utley has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maci Shalbot made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases and two runs. Shalbot is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Chloe Cook was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases.

Looking ahead, Bourbon will face off against Steelville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Plato, they will take on Willow Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
