Preview: West Harrison Hurricanes vs. Moss Point Tigers

The West Harrison Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the Moss Point Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Harrison is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.

Even though West Harrison has not done well against Long Beach recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. West Harrison claimed a resounding 65-30 victory over Long Beach on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win West Harrison has managed all season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Moss Point ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bryant and snuck past 48-45. Given Moss Point's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 135th in Mississippi, while Bryant is ranked 382nd in Alabama), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Quey'sean Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jujuan Nettles, who scored four points along with eight assists.

West Harrison has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Moss Point, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Things could have been worse for West Harrison, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-44 loss to Moss Point in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Thankfully for West Harrison, Kedrick Osby (who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
