Basketball Recap: Sidney Miller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Brush over Resurrection Christian

If Brush was riding high fresh off their 57-34 takedown of Windsor Charter Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Brush Beetdiggers received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 62-45 to the Resurrection Christian Cougars. The loss continues a trend for the Beetdiggers in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Brush's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sidney Miller, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 10 points and seven boards. Kalli Castrup was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Brush smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 25 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Resurrection Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Klein, who posted 23 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. Klein is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caz McGraw, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points and eight steals.

Brush's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Resurrection Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brush will challenge Haxtun at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Resurrection Christian, they will face off against Liberty Common at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Resurrection Christian's favor as the squad sits on 17 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Liberty Common has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
