Basketball Game Preview: Oswego Indians vs. Marmaton Valley Wildcats

Oswego and Marmaton Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Oswego Indians will host the Marmaton Valley Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Oswego took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed back in December of 2024. They took their match with ease, bagging a 68-24 victory over Southern Coffey County. With that win, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.

Oswego's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wyatt Mcclure, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 20 points. What's more, Mcclure also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Josh Hutchinson, who went 6 for 9 en route to 13 points and six rebounds.

Oswego smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marmaton Valley). They claimed a resounding 80-38 victory over Chetopa. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Marmaton Valley's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Oswego, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Oswego might still be hurting after the 61-39 loss they got from Marmaton Valley in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Oswego avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
