Football Game Preview: Wewahitchka Gators vs. Jay Royals

The Wewahitchka Gators will challenge the Jay Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wewahitchka has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight defeats, while Jay will come in with three straight wins.

Things were looking good for Wewahitchka after they put the first points on the board last Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They had to suffer through a 51-20 loss at the hands of Franklin County. The Gators were up 14-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Wewahitchka's loss came about despite a quality game from Peyton Harrell, who rushed for 85 yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Jay earned a 13-6 victory over South Choctaw Academy on Friday.

Wewahitchka's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Jay, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Wewahitchka was taken down by Jay 41-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Royals' Jaymes Youngblood, who rushed for 110 yards and three TDs. Now that the Gators know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
