Softball Game Preview: Valley Forge Patriots vs. Buckeye Bucks

Valley Forge is 0-10 against Buckeye since April of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Bucks at 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Valley Forge's offense. They lost 10-0 to Rocky River on Tuesday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.

Westlake typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Buckeye proved too difficult a challenge. They never let the Demons get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. Considering the Bucks have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Lilly Young's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Faith Shaw was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten contests. Another player making a difference was Ava Piovarchy, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Buckeye hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.

Buckeye's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-5. As for Valley Forge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Valley Forge suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Buckeye when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
